On Friday, June 12, 2020, the Shxw’ōwhámél First Nation Si:yá:m Council signed a temporary COVID-19 Virus Community Protection Law. Its purpose is to provide for the protection of Shxw’ōwhámél Lands, the environment, the health and safety of our elders, vulnerable Members and their families by imposing measures to reduce the risk of the spread of the COVID-19 virus on Shxw’ōwhámél Lands.
Restrictions on Access to Shxw’ōwhámél Lands. No person is authorized to enter onto or remain on Shxw’ōwhámél Lands while this Law is in force, other than:
a) a Member and their immediate family who ordinarily reside on Shxw’ōwhámél Lands;
b) a person who is not a Member but who is authorized to reside on Shxw’ōwhámél Lands;
c) a Peace Officer or coroner
d) a Shxw’ōwhámél Official
e) other persons specifically permitted to do so in advance by Council

The Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), applications will also be available on this website beginning April 6th, 2020. If you have lost income because of COVID-19, CERB will provide you with temporary income support. CERB will provide eligible applicants with $500 a week for up to 16 weeks.
